Brendan R asked: I am a student at an Illinois public high school, not far from Naperville, where there is a lot of debate over teaching evolution in school systems.
I am curious as to whether what we are forced to read in my English textbook is actually legal for a public school. There have been numerous exerpts from the textbook that make both direct and indirect references to Christianity and Bible teachings. Afterwards, the teacher will connect what we read directly of Church, Jesus, Communion, Hell, etc.
I am not Christian, but I am tolerant of all religions. I am bothered though, that I have lost GPA points solely because I couldn’t answer test questions that I would have only known if I was Christian. They haven’t even blended any other religions into the curriculum.
This teacher in particular, scolded the student body for standing up against an antisemetic message on our TV show.
Does the teacher have to impose her beliefs on us to be reprimanded or is what happening not supposed to happe
